TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — TaiwanNext Foundation held the 2026 Taiwan Tech Summit in Silicon Valley on Saturday, bringing together government officials and industry leaders to strengthen technology ties and attract global talent.
CNA reported that National Development Council Minister Yeh Chun-hsien (葉俊顯) said AI is rapidly reshaping industries worldwide. Taiwan’s strengths in chips and IT complement Silicon Valley’s ecosystem of tech companies, skilled workers, and startups, he said.
Yeh said innovation and talent will be crucial to Taiwan’s future competitiveness. Closer ties with Silicon Valley could create opportunities in research, investment, and business development, he added.
Industrial Technology Research Institute Chair Wu Tsung-tsong (吳政忠) said AI is increasingly being used in systems that can operate independently and interact with the physical world. Taiwan-US cooperation will be particularly important in robotics, autonomous systems, and unmanned vehicles, per UDN.
The institute is bringing together key technologies to develop a complete supply chain for unmanned systems, Wu said. It is also helping startups establish international partnerships and bring Taiwan-developed technology to overseas markets, per Rti.
As part of the summit, Taiwan Career Day brought together more than 30 companies and organizations seeking workers. Participants included Micron, MediaTek, TSMC, Delta Electronics, and Applied Materials, per CNA.
Talent Taiwan, a government-backed service for international professionals, provided guidance on the Employment Gold Card, taxes, visas, jobs, and starting a business. Its services are aimed at overseas tech workers, international students, and foreign specialists considering careers in Taiwan.
ITRI recruited experienced professionals in unmanned technology, AI, 6G, and silicon photonics. Engineers and other professionals from Google, Amazon, and Meta also offered one-on-one advice on resumes, career planning, and interviews.
TaiwanNext Foundation Chair Hsieh Kai-ting (謝凱婷) said the summit connects international professionals and startups with investors and major tech companies. She said these exchanges could strengthen technology and startup ties between Taiwan and Silicon Valley.
