TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and Taiwan Mobile launched preorder campaigns for Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series and first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo at its fall event Thursday, per CNA. The iPhone 18 Pro models feature Apple’s A20 Pro chip built using TSMC’s 2 nm process, a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with a variable aperture, improved battery life and performance, and four colors.
The iPhone Duo has the largest iPhone display when unfolded and features the A20 Pro chip, an advanced camera system, and all-day battery life. Chunghwa Telecom opened limited reservations Thursday, with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max going on sale Sept. 18 and the iPhone Duo on Oct. 23.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at NT$44,900 (US$1,400), while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at NT$49,900, per The Storm. The iPhone Duo is more expensive, starting at NT$74,900 for the 256 GB version and reaching NT$118,900 for the 2 TB model.
Far EasTone opened a customer poll Thursday and will begin accepting preorders at 8 p.m. Saturday. Taiwan Mobile will open reservations at 11 a.m. Friday, followed by preorders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at 8 p.m. Saturday and the iPhone Duo on Oct. 16.
Far EasTone Executive Vice President Chao Yi-nan (趙憶南) said the iPhone 18 Pro’s upgraded chip improves performance and battery life, while the smaller Dynamic Island and variable-aperture main camera enhance the viewing and imaging experience. Although prices have risen due to higher global chip costs, Chao said the upgrades remain significant and expressed optimism about sales.
Taiwan Mobile Chief Business Officer for Consumer Business Lin Tung-min (林東閔) said iPhone 17 lineup sales rose nearly 20% from the previous generation, with Pro-series sales up nearly 30%. He said he expects the new models to extend that momentum, with more than 70% of customers previously choosing monthly plans costing at least NT$1,399.
