TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Tainan announced Friday that it has designated 49 hectares of land in Anding District as a new town, pending a review, according to a press release.
The city said it sent the proposal to the Ministry of the Interior in July to accommodate growth driven by Southern Taiwan Science Park. The new settlement is expected to attract up to 4,000 people.
The 49-hectare community will be established on farmland near Anding Junior High School, with approximately 30 hectares rezoned for residential and commercial use. The city plans to rezone an additional 8 hectares into a park, parking lot, and a recreation center.
The settlement is connected to Municipal Highway 178, District Highway South 132, Zengwen River embankment, and the Anding Interchange, linking up with downtown Anding and the Semiconductor S-Corridor.
Southern Taiwan Science Park, or the Semiconductor S-Corridor, is a major hub for high-tech industries such as semiconductor manufacturing that stretches from Chiayi to Pingtung.
