TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Tainan on Thursday launched an oversight platform for phase 1 construction of its first metro line scheduled to begin later this year, according to a press release.
Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said the blue line is one of the city's most important public infrastructure projects. He added that 13 interagency sub-platforms cover all stages from electrical engineering to train purchase.
The city said the NT$32.73 billion (US$1 billion) route runs from Yongkang through the East District to Rende. It has 10 stations planned along the 8.55-kilometer-long route.
The city said the platform coordinates administrative, judicial, and auditing bodies to address disputes from contracts, engineering, and other public concerns. The city also plans to submit progress updates to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' website for public reference.
