TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — MediaTek has launched the MT8875, a 5G IoT platform built using TSMC’s 4 nm process and designed for enterprise, industrial, and smart retail applications.
MediaTek said the modem-based platform features an upgraded octa-core CPU with four performance cores and four efficiency cores, balancing computing performance with power efficiency, per CNA. The design is suited to industrial human-machine interfaces that require fast responses while keeping power consumption low.
The MT8875 provides more than 12.8 trillion operations per second of generative AI acceleration, more than twice the performance of its predecessor. In smart retail, the platform can support AI functions in self-service kiosks and interactive digital signage.
The platform combines 5G and on-device generative AI acceleration with integrated Wi-Fi 6E and optional Wi-Fi 7 and satellite non-terrestrial network connectivity. MediaTek said the combination gives OEMs greater flexibility to develop connected devices for enterprise and industrial applications.
