TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei District Prosecutors Office on Monday searched the office of KMT Legislator Chen Hsueh-sheng (陳雪生) as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.
Anti Corruption Team Head Prosecutor Tseng Yang-ling (曾揚嶺) led a group of Investigation Bureau personnel in searching Chen’s legislative office, per CNA. The prosecutors’ office said Chen is being investigated for allegedly violating the Anti-Corruption Act.
The Legislative Yuan issued a statement saying it did not know about the investigation, per Liberty Times. Tseng previously led a search of the office of independent Legislator Ciwas Ali (高金素梅) in February as part of an investigation into allegations that she fraudulently claimed assistant fees and illegally imported Chinese medical equipment, per ETtoday.
The investigation into Chen reportedly concerns Kin Hsing Marine Co., which is owned by the family of former Kinmen County Magistrate Wang Cheng-wu (楊鎮浯), per Business Today. The company handled CPC Corp.’s fuel transportation between Kaohsiung and Kinmen from 2003 to 2019.
When a Kin Hsing oil tanker malfunctioned in 2019, the company allegedly bribed Chen to pressure CPC Corp. into terminating its contract without requiring Kin Hsing to arrange an alternative transporter, as stipulated in the contract. Chen responded to reports of his alleged involvement at the time, saying that the coverage had overstated his role.
The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office searched Kin Hsing Marine’s Kaohsiung office in June and July 2025, per SETN.
DPP Legislative Caucus Secretary-General Chuang Jui-hsiung (莊瑞雄) declined to comment on the ongoing investigation, per Newtalk. He said, however, that investigations should remain fair and impartial regardless of how senior the individuals under investigation are.
Matsu insiders said Chen began his career as an accountant and that the local political community was surprised by the search, per UDN. Chen is known for his grassroots connections with local residents and his advocacy for improved China relations.
