TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Naval Academy and National Sun Yat-sen University will allow students to obtain degrees at each other’s educational institutions, reports said Tuesday.
Both bodies are located in Kaohsiung, the academy near the Zuoying Navy Base and the university near the coast in Gushan District. Their representatives signed a strategic partnership agreement Tuesday, per CNA.
The two schools said their cooperation is designed to face new developments in AI, defense, and ocean technology. The university manages complete academic and cross-disciplinary resources, while the academy excels in military studies, engineering, and leadership courses.
Cooperation will allow students to experience different education systems and expand their horizons, the institutions said. Students at the university will learn more about the ocean and about the military, while academy students preparing to become officers in the Navy will improve their knowledge of technology and research, the report said.
Over the past few years, the Naval Academy and National Sun Yat-sen University have launched a joint ocean science education center in Palau and a project about AI and underwater military technology, CNA reported.
