TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck under the ocean Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the Central Weather Administration said.
The quake struck 52.8 kilometers east-southeast of Yilan County Hall at a focal depth of 66.6 kilometers under the Pacific Ocean.
The quake’s highest intensity level reached level 3 in parts of Yilan and New Taipei. Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 0 to 7, which gauges the degree to which a quake is felt at a specific location.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
