TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – China Airlines removed a drunk passenger from a flight to Amsterdam because he was harassing a female traveler, reports said Wednesday.
Flight CI73 was taxiing before its scheduled departure from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday when a young foreign passenger caused problems, per UDN. Airline staff told police he was drunk and had been harassing the woman seated next to him.
The pilot decided to return the plane to the gate and have the passenger removed. He did not resist when asked to leave, and after questioning, the woman decided not to press charges. The flight took off without further incident at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday.
China Airlines said it took inappropriate behavior by passengers seriously, per UDN. Following standard operating procedures, the crew immediately notified the Aviation Police Bureau, which sent agents to handle the situation.
Safety is its main guiding principle, the airline said, advocating a zero-tolerance policy for irrational behavior. China Airlines thanked passengers for their patience and law enforcement for their assistance.
