TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei’s Sanying Metro Line will expand the hours of its free trial service from Sunday.
Speaking at an event Tuesday marking the 10th anniversary of New Taipei's Rapid Transit Systems, Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) said passengers will be able to ride the line free from 6 a.m. until midnight as part of its trial operations, CNA reported.
Hou said the department has also completed construction of the Danhai, Ankeng, and Sanying metro lines, which are operated by New Taipei Metro.
The mayor said New Taipei has seven metro lines under construction. He added the city is continuing to expand its rail network to improve transportation and support development across New Taipei and northern Taiwan.
New Taipei metro chief Lee Cheng-an (李政安) said a 10th anniversary exhibition will run through Aug. 22 at New Taipei City Hall. The exhibition presents the history of the city’s metro construction and major projects completed over the past 10 years.
