TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taitung County Reserve Command worked with a local printer during the Han Kuang 42 military exercise to test how civilian resources could support defense operations, CNA reported Monday.
The command said it coordinated with reserve personnel in Chishang Township and local printing business owner Tseng Ting-yuan (曾鼎元). It said Tseng used his printing equipment to produce preparedness materials for the exercise.
The command said the reserve personnel distributed and posted the materials at Chishang Station. The command said the effort aimed to make preparedness information more visible in everyday public spaces, per UDN.
The command said personnel also promoted the message “better prepared, safer” at the Chishang Township Office. It urged residents to stay alert and learn how to identify false information.
The command said the activity tested whether local businesses and other civilian resources could support military operations during an emergency. It also said that it tested how community networks could quickly distribute accurate information, per Economic Daily News.
Tseng said taking part allowed his printing business to contribute directly to the exercise. He said local businesses could also help communities receive reliable information during emergencies.
The Han Kuang 42 live-fire exercise began Aug. 5 and runs for 10 days. The drills test military readiness as well as coordination with civilian resources.
