TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Military Police Command conducted an exercise on Sunday in coordination with the Taipei City Government, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, and Taipei City Police Department.
Troops used the cover provided by underground MRT facilities and passages to move rapidly to designated positions, the Military News Agency reported. At the same time, logistics units used vehicles and the MRT system to carry out phased delivery of supplies, including food and ammunition.
The exercise also introduced a “force awareness application suite,” enabling commanders at all levels to monitor troop movements and battlefield information and issue operational orders in real time.
The drill focused on the rapid deployment of personnel and materiel in response to enemy threats, using the underground MRT network to deploy troops and carry out logistical resupply missions, according to MNA. It also incorporated systems including a common operational picture and backup communications to enhance the resilience of urban defense operations.
The exercise was conducted in line with requirements to strengthen urban defense resilience and implement civil-military integration. It incorporated simulated battlefield conditions to train units to integrate and maximize the use of existing public infrastructure and systems in support of defense missions.
The Military Police Command said that amid an increasingly complex security environment, the armed forces must continue to refine training based on evolving threats and operational scenarios. It must also find ways to effectively integrate military, government, and civilian resources to enhance overall defense capabilities.
