TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Forward Science Corp. has returned to profitability after shifting from semiconductor vacuum pump repair to equipment manufacturing and facility engineering services.
The company reported consolidated revenue of NT$40.9 million (US$1.3 million) in July, up 307.76% from the same month a year earlier. Revenue for the first seven months totaled NT$200 million, a 95% increase year-on-year, according to CTEE and Investor.
Forward Science posted earnings per share of NT$0.5 for the second quarter and NT$0.24 for the first half, marking a turnaround from losses to profitability. The company attributed the improvement to growing orders for its self-developed vacuum pumps and projects handled by its facilities engineering division.
The company set up the division in March to enter the semiconductor plant construction and equipment installation markets. The move marked a shift from its previous business model, which centered mainly on repairing semiconductor vacuum pumps.
Forward Science said the new division has begun taking on projects from system integration companies and semiconductor-related customers. Meanwhile, the company is developing its own branded dry vacuum pumps, which have passed testing by an international semiconductor manufacturer and entered initial deployment at customer sites.
Vacuum pumps are essential equipment in semiconductor manufacturing, where they help create controlled environments for processes such as deposition and etching. Dry vacuum pumps are used throughout semiconductor production to remove unwanted gases and maintain clean conditions, with equipment failures potentially affecting production quality and chip yields, according to GenMan Industrial and Ifm.
