TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan will continue to deepen exchanges with Eswatini, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said during a meeting with Eswatini Prime Minister Russell Dlamini on Tuesday.
The two countries are collaborating in industry, public health, and digital transformation under the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project to help Eswatini achieve its development goals and create more mutually beneficial outcomes, Lai said, per CNA.
Lai said Taiwan and Eswatini have consistently supported each other and expanded cooperation in areas such as energy and public health. Major projects such as strategic oil storage facilities are significant achievements that improve local well-being, he added.
The president thanked Eswatini for supporting Taiwan’s international participation, CNA reported. He noted that King Mswati III called on the international community during last year’s UN General Assembly to correctly understand UN General Assembly Resolution 2758.
Dlamini said the Eswatini government and people cherish their longstanding friendship and cooperation with Taiwan. He praised Taiwan’s contributions to Eswatini’s healthcare, agriculture, education, and energy development, according to CNA.
The prime minister said the two countries share a vision of elevating ties into a modern strategic partnership.
Dlamini expressed confidence that his visit would strengthen the “excellent relations” between the two countries. He will meet with Acer founder Stan Shih (施振榮), visit the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and tour the Shalun Green Energy Science City in Tainan, per the foreign ministry.
