TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Travelers between Taiwan and Prague will have a nonstop option every day from October, when Starlux Airlines increases its new service to four flights a week.
Starlux launched the route on Saturday with three weekly flights and will add a fourth on Oct. 1. China Airlines, a Starlux competitor, currently operates three weekly Taipei-Prague flights. It added one service in April after launching the route in 2023, per CNA.
Prague is Starlux’s first European destination, and Chair Chang Kuo-wei (張國煒) piloted the inaugural flight. CEO Chai Chien-hua (翟健華) linked the route to semiconductor-related travel demand and said Barcelona will be the airline’s second European destination, with ticket sales beginning soon, per NOWnews.
Travel operators in the Czech Republic said the additional flights should make trips easier for Taiwanese living in Europe and support tourism growth. Czech Economic and Cultural Office Representative David Steinke said the route could also deepen tourism, trade, education, and cultural exchanges.
The Prague service could also benefit business travelers headed to Dresden, where TSMC is establishing a plant. China Airlines operates a shuttle between Vaclav Havel Airport Prague and Dresden three times a week, allowing passengers to continue directly to Dresden railway station without transferring in Prague, according to CNA.
Dresden Taiwanese Business Association Chair Su I-ting (蘇怡婷) said more flights could strengthen business, industry, and talent exchanges between Taiwan, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
