TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) praised close cooperation between Taiwan and the US during a meeting with a National Association of Attorneys General delegation on Saturday.
Hsiao welcomed the delegation and thanked the association for inviting Taiwan’s Ministry of Justice each year to participate in its annual meetings and related activities, according to the Presidential Office. She said the ministry’s participation helps promote exchanges and cooperation in law enforcement, democratic institutions, and shared values.
Hsiao said Taiwan has 14 offices in the US. Although Taiwan is geographically small, it maintains close ties with all US states, highlighting the importance of engagement with state governments and local communities, she said.
Hsiao said Taiwan and the US collaborate across a wide range of areas, including trade, culture, education, security, and law enforcement. Building broad and strong partnerships with US state governments and legislatures is a key component of Taiwan-US relations, she said.
The delegation’s visit is a concrete example of these close interactions, Hsiao said. She expressed hope for continued exchanges and cooperation.
National Association of Attorneys General President William Tong is leading the delegation.
