TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Creative Expo Taiwan opens Saturday, launching its largest and longest-running edition to date.
Centered around the theme "Bit zero," it invites audiences to explore the origin of human ingenuity given the rapid rise of artificial intelligence. Featuring both cultural exhibitions and commercial traders, overall vendor participation has grown to a projected 650,000 visitors this year, per the culture ministry.
At the opening ceremony on Friday, Culture Minister Li Yuan (李遠) described cultural policy as an incremental, multi-generational relay, comparing Taiwan's growing momentum to an aircraft taking flight.
Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun (鄭麗君), who heads the government's Smart Nation taskforce, celebrated the public opening of Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab's (C-LAB) restored historic building.
Addressing the "Bit Zero" theme, Cheng said that humanity must remain the master of technology, emphasizing that culture provides technology’s ultimate value. The Cultural Curation section runs through Aug. 31 at C-LAB.
The exhibition features five main themed zones, starting at the entrance with, "No rush. you are doing well," a sensory landscape installation incorporating traditional tile motifs and historical imagery.
"In Transit" explores coastal landscapes through popular film and television intellectual property. "The Orange Story in the Blue World" looks at Taiwanese comics to examine human emotion.
Rounding out the showcase, "Awaken Your Senses" highlights cross-sector cultural icons in a multi-sensory corridor. "Tomorrow Shop" presents 235 local products on an interactive installation modeled after an airport baggage carousel.
The brand trade show runs Aug. 6-12 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1, hosting over 870 brands at 1,200 booths.
