Taiwan (Taiwan News) – Tainan-based Photoply said on Friday via its press release that it is targeting European markets for its smart optical products after joining a city-led trade delegation to Poland.
Tainan City Government sent a business delegation to Poland from July 19-22, mainly targeting robotics, unmanned vehicles, and semiconductors. Photoply toured the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park to meet firms that can complement its expertise in precision optics and functional lenses.
Photoply said the visit revealed potential in e-sports eye protection and smart wearables. They also saw potential in applying precision optics to drone imaging, anti-glare flight systems, and AI robot vision.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said the city continues to help small and medium enterprises with research and development, talent match-making and upgrades. Huang noted that Poland's own development in high-tech industries complements Photoply in optical protection, special filters, and smart visual components.
Tainan City Economic Development Bureau Director-General Chang Ting-yuan (張婷媛) said Photoply's participation in the economics ministry's Small Business Innovation Research program has transformed it from contract manufacturing to a recognized brand. She added that the Poland trip not only broadened the company's perspective but also identified areas for continued improvement.
The economics ministry's Small Business Innovation Research program provides subsidies for enterprises with proof of concept for products or services that can improve overall technical standards or spur economic development. Businesses like Photoply have benefited from the program's guidance and support.
The city aims to deepen cooperation with Poland as well as the rest of Central and Eastern Europe.
