TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and the US have developed a “symbiotic partnership” through years of cooperation, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said Thursday.
Lin made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the US Institute for Indo-Pacific Security, led by Chair Randall G. Schriver, per RTI. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two sides discussed issues including economic security, supply chain resilience, and AI.
Lin said Taiwanese are committed to democracy and freedom, while China has sought to change the status quo through gray-zone activities, legal warfare, and economic pressure. He said these actions have also restricted Taiwan’s international space.
Lin said he hopes Washington will continue demonstrating consistency in its Taiwan policy, provide clear messages to the international community, and work with Taipei to expand cooperation.
Schriver said the visit gave the delegation a deeper understanding of Taiwan-US cooperation, per CNA. He praised Taiwan’s progress in talent development and industrial technology, as well as its efforts to strengthen ties with partners including the US, Japan, and Europe.
