TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Typhoon Dolphin is moving toward waters between northern Taiwan and Japan’s Kyushu, though it remains too early to determine how close it will come to Taiwan, reports said Thursday.
At 8 a.m. Thursday, the typhoon was about 4,700 kilometers east of Taiwan and moving west-northwest at 17 kph, according to the Central Weather Administration. Forecasters said they needed to observe the storm until at least next week before making more accurate predictions about its route, per UDN.
Taiwan can expect high temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms over the coming week. Thursday and Friday will bring considerable rainfall, while weather is expected to become more stable from Aug. 1, with thunderstorms mostly limited to mountainous areas, forecasters said.
Maximum temperatures in western Taiwan are likely to reach 33 to 35 C on Thursday, with highs of 36 C possible near mountains in Taipei, New Taipei, central Taiwan, and southern Taiwan, UDN reported.
