TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Taiwan healthcare industry delegation attended a business matchmaking event in Singapore on Thursday to promote the country’s medical services, products, and technology.
The International Trade Administration and Taiwan External Trade Development Council organized the event, CNA reported. The delegation included 11 hospitals and companies involved in medical services, medical equipment, healthcare products, regenerative medicine, and biotechnology.
Delegation leader Pan Chien-te (盤建德), a thoracic surgeon at National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch, said the group demonstrated the broad capabilities of Taiwan’s healthcare industry. He said the visit could create more opportunities for international cooperation.
The delegation brought together hospitals, medical equipment makers, and companies producing non-pharmaceutical healthcare products. They presented Taiwan’s medical expertise, innovative equipment, and biotechnology applications.
Pan said National Taiwan University Hospital has long supported international medical exchanges. Hospitals can provide treatment while also sharing Taiwan’s medical knowledge and professional standards with other countries, he said.
Wu Wen-chung (吳文忠), an official at Taiwan’s representative office in Singapore, said economic ties between Taiwan and Singapore have continued to grow. He said Taiwan became Singapore’s largest trading partner and import source for the first time last year.
Wu said Taiwan and Singapore are both becoming super-aged societies, meaning more than 20% of their populations will be aged 65 or older. He added that Singapore’s growing use of AI in healthcare created further opportunities for cooperation between companies from both sides.
