TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan recorded 4.29 million international visitor arrivals in the first half of 2026, up 2.3% from a year earlier, the Tourism Administration said Wednesday.
Taiwan received 4,294,589 visitors from January through June, CNA reported. Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea were the three largest sources of visitors.
Taiwan welcomed 611,148 visitors in June, up 0.79% from the same month last year. From Jan. 1 to July 15, arrivals reached about 4.55 million, compared with 4.48 million during the same period in 2025.
From Jan. 1 to July 15, arrivals from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, the US, and India increased by more than 9%. Visitor numbers from Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, the UK, Japan, and China declined.
During the first six months of the year, arrivals from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, France, and Italy each posted double-digit growth. The administration said the figures showed Taiwan’s inbound tourism market continued to grow overall.
However, the administration said conflicts in West Asia and broader global uncertainty had affected international travel. Security concerns and higher fuel costs had also placed pressure on the global tourism market.
The administration said it would continue monitoring international travel conditions and adjust tourism policies when necessary. It also plans to strengthen promotional campaigns in Taiwan’s key overseas markets.
