TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) recently led a business delegation to Poland to explore opportunities in drones, robotics, and smart manufacturing, with local firms seeking European supply chain partnerships.
The city government said the delegation included Motionnex, Photoply, Yinghan, the UK’s Bellwether Advanced Mobility Solutions, Ultra Linear Frame, Ying Han Technology, and Techman. The companies were selected for their ability to meet local industry needs and form a supply chain covering systems, optics, key components, and automation equipment.
Motionnex said it demonstrated its firefighting robot, which is equipped with gas sensors, thermal imaging, visual detection, and a smart chassis, at Gdansk’s Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and Gdynia’s tech park. The company said it also held briefings with automation and drone systems firms to explore cooperation opportunities.
Motionnex said Poland’s manufacturing clusters offer strong development capacity, while its Baltic ports provide a gateway to the European market. It said Taiwan’s experience in rescue missions complements Poland’s strengths in rapid iteration and drone systems, enabling coordinated air-ground operations for critical infrastructure.
Huang said the visit allowed local industries to demonstrate their capabilities, with Poland serving as a proving ground. He added that the agreement signed between Tainan and Gdansk means more than friendship, as it gives Tainan enterprises a strategic avenue into Europe and a basis for long-term partnerships.
Tainan City Economic Development Bureau Director-General Chang Ting-yuan (張婷媛) said the trip showcased Tainan’s robotics supply chain. She added that the city will leverage Taiwan’s Smart City Solutions Alliance and its robotics platform for business matchmaking.
The city government said the mission built a bridge between the two cities for follow-up exchanges. It said it will continue helping firms expand overseas and integrate with global supply chains.
