TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Energy Administration on Wednesday held an energy benchmark seminar, featuring Autostate as a model enterprise on how smart manufacturing can boost competitiveness.

Autostate makes aftermarket parts for motorcycle brands including KTM, Yamaha, and Honda. Autostate set a goal to reduce power consumption by 2% annually starting in 2025.

The firm's efficiency measures include robotic arms for continuous tool changes, loading, and machining. A skeleton crew is on duty during off-peak hours, allowing around-the-clock production with minimal human intervention.

The manufacturer said that facility upgrades include a sun-proof layout, cooling-efficient mainframes, and automated temperature controls to minimize use of air conditioning units. Material vats were moved to more accessible areas to shorten loading times.

Autostate also adopted energy management standard ISO 50001, digital meters, and a monitoring platform to optimize power use. ISO 50001 is a globally recognized energy management standard that businesses refer to monitor and optimize energy use.

The agency also announced that its national energy-savings program has saved 13.24 billion kilowatt-hours as of June, reaching 109% of its target and roughly equal to the annual electricity use of 3.18 million households. The agency added that 52,000 SMEs have seen noticeable improvements.

The agency added that the aim is to improve overall efficiency and boost competitiveness while remaining committed to net-zero. The government also offers subsidies for projects that meet energy management goals, along with credit guarantees for energy-efficient enterprises.
