TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) said Tuesday that Taiwan has become the “epicenter” of advanced electronics manufacturing.
Speaking at the opening of Wistron's plant in Fort Worth, Texas, Huang said the US is rapidly expanding chip plants, computer systems, and AI factories, but the effort depends on Taiwan’s mature supply chain, per FTNN. He said Taiwan has moved beyond its former image as a low-cost manufacturing base by combining world-class technology with cost efficiency.
Huang said the rise of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has reshaped global supply chains and supported the development of the US semiconductor and computing industries. He said AI factories would be difficult to build without Taiwanese partners including TSMC, Foxconn, and Wistron.
Although the US is rebuilding domestic manufacturing capacity, Huang said higher costs and the time needed to establish local supply chains remain challenges, FTNN reported. He said AI demand is growing faster than supply, making continued investment in AI infrastructure necessary.
Addressing concerns that AI investment may be overheating, Huang said critics are mistaken in linking stronger AI models with a potential bubble. He said more capable models will accelerate adoption and increase demand for GPUs, servers, and computing infrastructure.
Huang said more efficient AI systems will expand applications rather than reduce demand for computing power, according to FTNN. He said the AI ecosystem requires both closed models from companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic and open-source models such as Nemotron to drive continued growth.
