TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tainan City Government said Wednesday that two local school choirs won gold and bronze awards at the 2026 Singapore International Choral Festival.
CNA reported that Catholic Bao-Ren Elementary School’s children’s choir received a gold award at the festival. The event brought together 74 choirs from 11 countries and more than 3,000 singers.
Tainan Municipal Jiansing Junior High School’s boys’ choir won a bronze award in the under-19 category. It was the choir’s first international competition.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) congratulated both choirs on social media. He also praised the Yo Wu Wei Children’s Choir, another Tainan group that recently won three gold awards and the overall title at an international festival in Budapest.
Huang said the results reflected the students’ long hours of practice and the support of their teachers and parents. He added that the young singers had made Tainan proud and represented Taiwan through music.
