TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said Wednesday that local business associations plan to open a preparatory office to deepen Taiwan-Poland cooperation in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Huang said diplomacy should create long-lasting, reciprocal benefits beyond meetings with dignitaries. He said Pomerania’s fast-growing high-tech industries and strategic Baltic ports complement Tainan’s industries and offer logistical advantages.
Huang’s delegation toured Gdansk’s Pomeranian Special Economic Zone and Gdynia’s Pomeranian Science and Technology Park, meeting technology firms to assess Poland’s business ecosystem. Huang also met with local enterprises and Taiwanese businesses there to explore partnerships.
Huang said Tainan remains an active promoter of AI adoption by helping industry clusters automate and boost global competitiveness. He cited the global surge in AI and robotics as a key driver for planned business exchanges and matchmaking aimed at accessing overseas markets.
Huang pointed to plans by the Taiwan-Poland Chamber of Commerce to establish a preparatory office for a robotics industry alliance. He said he hoped chamber Chair Chao Chung-chieh (趙忠傑) would help bring business entities closer together and turn contacts into commercial ventures.
Gdansk and Gdynia are part of an industrial hub in northern Poland. Gdansk is the regional capital and the hometown of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
