TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Bora Pharmaceuticals has partnered with Insilico Medicine to accelerate AI-powered drug development.
Bora announced the strategic partnership Wednesday, saying it will combine Insilico’s AI drug discovery technologies with Bora’s expertise in commercialization, per CNA.
Bora Chair Sheng Pao-hsi (盛保熙) said the cooperation aims to transform the traditional contract development and manufacturing organization model. Insilico will provide its AI platform for target discovery and optimization, while Bora will contribute its manufacturing capabilities, per UDN.
The two companies plan to initially select neurological disease drug candidates and bring in external investors to fund development. Successful candidates could later be licensed to pharmaceutical companies.
Bora said the companies have largely completed their cooperation plans and expect to advance 30% to 40% of the initiatives this year, including identifying drug candidates and designing a new company structure. Further steps will require board approval.
Sheng said Insilico previously focused mainly on individual drug licensing deals, while the new partnership aims to create a platform-based collaboration. The companies also plan to expand AI applications into supply chains and corporate operations.
