TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Members of the New South Wales state legislature in Australia with interests in transportation and family issues are visiting Taiwan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
Labor Party member Anna Watson is the parliamentary secretary for roads and for regional transport and roads, while Natasha Maclaren-Jones serves as shadow minister for families and communities in the state’s opposition Liberal Party.
During their Sunday-through-Friday visit, they will study the country’s latest achievements in healthcare, labor relations, technology, and transportation, the ministry said in a statement. Developments in relations with China and other regional issues will also be up for discussion at meetings with government officials.
The ministry said Watson and Maclaren-Jones will consider expanding cooperation between Taiwan and New South Wales. Australia is an important friend in the Indo-Pacific region, shares key values with Taiwan, and conducts close exchanges on issues of trade, culture, energy, technology, and all-of-society resilience, according to the ministry.
