TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration on Thursday issued a sea warning for Typhoon Bavi.
The CWA said the storm’s center was 920 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi and moving northwest at 19 kph. Bavi had maximum sustained winds of 183 kph, gusts of up to 226 kph, and a storm radius of 380 km.
The CWA forecast that the storm would move to within 550 km east of Eluanbi over the next 24 hours. The sea warning covers the Bashi Channel and eastern Taiwan offshore waters.
The agency revised the typhoon’s projected track northward in its latest forecast. The storm’s center is expected to make its closest approach to northern Taiwan on Saturday afternoon.
