TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Advanced Subjects Test for 2026 university admissions will be postponed because Typhoon Bavi is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain, CNA reported Tuesday.
The test was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Education Minister Cheng Ying-yao (鄭英耀) said the Joint Board of College Recruitment Commission will announce the new dates on Wednesday, Liberty Times reported.
The Advanced Subjects Test is a university entrance exam in Taiwan that measures students’ advanced knowledge in specific subjects and their readiness for their chosen fields. Students who take part in the Examination and Placement process must submit AST scores, and most colleges require results from three to six subjects.
Speaking after attending a national education meeting in Hsinchu County, Cheng said forecasts showed Typhoon Bavi would likely affect Taiwan. He said officials were considering moving the test to Monday and Tuesday, or to Tuesday and Wednesday, depending on the typhoon’s path.
The commission said changing the test dates could affect later university admission schedules. It said officials needed more time to check how the delay would affect the full admissions process.
