TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan authorities said Monday that ferry services to Green Island and Orchid Island will be suspended from Wednesday afternoon as Typhoon Bavi approaches, with additional disruptions expected later this week.
The Maritime and Port Bureau said ferry routes will continue to operate normally Tuesday, with partial service to Orchid Island on Wednesday morning, per CNA. It said all ferry services to the islands will be canceled from noon Wednesday through Saturday.
The Central Weather Administration said the typhoon is forecast to have its greatest impact on Taiwan between Friday and Saturday as it moves closer to the country, per UDN. The bureau said ferry schedules will continue to be adjusted in response to changing forecasts.
The bureau urged travelers on outlying islands to take ferries back to Taiwan before cancellations begin. It also advised people planning trips to outlying islands to postpone travel.
Ferry operators will continue to monitor conditions closely and announce any service changes in advance, according to UDN.
