TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Santi Energy announced Wednesday it has chosen Japan’s Sustech to build a 3.7-megawatt rooftop solar project near the Tamsui Bridge in New Taipei’s Bali District.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2029 and marks Santi Energy’s first commercial partnership with a foreign company, per UDN. The project will be Taiwan’s first grid-connected direct supply installation.
The conventional power supply model involves power plants generating electricity and distributing it through power lines to users at certain rates. Grid-connected direct supply involves households or businesses receiving power from renewable energy suppliers while still connected to Taipower in case the renewable energy source is not available.
Former Taipower General Manager and current Santi Energy Chair Ben Chung (鍾炳利) said the project is a testament to the firm's streamlined process from permit to post-construction maintenance. The Sustech deal proves that the firm is capable of global outreach and of undertaking major infrastructure collaborations.
He added that the deal underwent strict technical due diligence covering permitting, construction quality, and long-term maintenance, per the Economic Daily News.
Before Santi Energy, Chung began his career as a Taipower engineer. His main focuses are strengthening grid resilience, establishing risk control mechanisms, and ensuring a balance between grid stability and energy transformation.
