TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan Techman Robot said Wednesday its collaborative robots have been introduced into parent company Quanta Computer’s automotive production lines in Germany to boost efficiency.
Collaborative robots are jointed, metal arms capable of doing most things a human can, aided by camera feeds. Techman has deployed them to accelerate the inspection of thousands of electronics components for advanced car systems.
Techman said the integration is their answer to automakers' increasingly complex specifications. The cobots can handle driver-assistance features and a dashboard multimedia center, per CNA.
The company noted driver-assistance systems require thousands of components and high computing power. These otherwise compact, intricate circuit boards can be inspected by cobots around-the-clock.
Quanta Vice President and automotive lead Chung Su-hua (鍾素華) said the upgrades are universal. She added that Techman’s AI vision and cobot solutions are crucial to ensuring consistent quality.
Techman's Chief Operating Officer, Huang Shih-chung (黃識忠), said the results indicate that meeting increasingly rigid specifications is no issue. He added that the partnership highlights both firms’ readiness to automate next-generation vehicle production, per the Economic Daily News.
