TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Philippines has extended its 14-day visa-free entry policy for Taiwanese passport holders for another year through June 30, 2027.
The Manila Economic and Cultural Office announced Wednesday that the renewed policy took effect, per CNA. It extends a policy that Manila first introduced on July 1, 2025.
Taiwanese travelers may enter without obtaining a visa in advance, but cannot extend their stay or convert it to another visa category after arrival. Those planning to remain longer than 14 days must apply for a visa before traveling.
Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay, provide proof of accommodation and sufficient financial means, and present a return or onward ticket, CNA reported. MECO said those requirements remain unchanged under the extended program.
Taiwan has continued its trial visa-free program for Filipinos since November 2017, with the current program set to remain in effect through July 31. Philippine authorities said the renewal was granted under the principle of reciprocity, citing Taiwan's visa-free treatment of Filipino travelers.
According to Philippine government statistics, more than 90,000 Taiwanese visited the Philippines between January and May, up 12% from a year earlier. Taiwan ranked as the Philippines' seventh-largest source of international visitors during the five months, with tourism industry representatives saying the policy was likely one factor driving the increase.
