TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn and Sharp have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation in emerging industries, with a focus on AI infrastructure, energy, and robotics.
The collaboration framework combines Foxconn’s manufacturing and investment ecosystem with Sharp’s global brand and distribution network, per CNA. The cooperation will cover AI infrastructure and solutions, energy and environmental, social, and governance applications, robotics and smart automation, next-generation communications, and smart cities.
Foxconn Chair Young Liu (劉揚偉) said the partnership will combine Sharp’s brand strength with Foxconn’s manufacturing and research and development capabilities to develop new business models in AI, energy, and robotics, according to a Foxconn press release. Liu said the collaboration is expected to enhance Sharp’s enterprise value and Foxconn’s overall competitiveness.
Sharp President and CEO Kawamura Tetsuji said the company aims to leverage Foxconn’s technological innovation and supply chain advantages to drive new growth opportunities, per a Sharp press release. He said Sharp’s long-standing presence in Japan and global markets provides a strong foundation for expansion.
In AI infrastructure, the companies will build on Sharp’s announced AI server business and launch related products and solutions under the Sharp brand, per Economic Daily News. The effort will integrate hardware supply, operations, deployment support, and business models to meet rising demand for high-performance computing.
Both companies said the memorandum will serve as the basis for ongoing cooperation, with structured communication and phased implementation of projects based on market demand and industry trends. They described the agreement as a formal step toward deeper resource integration and long-term value creation, Commercial Times reported.
