TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A tanker chartered by CPC Corp., carrying two million barrels of crude oil, has passed through the Strait of Hormuz after a three-month delay caused by the US-Iran conflict and is expected to reach Taiwan in mid-July.
According to Reuters, citing data from the London Stock Exchange Group and shipping tracker Kpler, the Dubai Energy cleared the strait overnight, per CNA. The vessel is carrying crude oil from Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia and is heading toward Kaohsiung.
CPC on Tuesday said the crude oil aboard the Dubai Energy was loaded before the war started, CNA reported. The tanker had originally been scheduled to transit the Strait of Hormuz in early March but was delayed because of the conflict.
CPC confirmed the transit after the shipowner assessed that conditions were safe for navigation. The cargo will be unloaded at CPC’s Dalin and Taoyuan refineries based on operational needs.
