TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s flagship overseas trade platform opened in Warsaw on Monday, marking its first staging in Poland and signaling a new phase in the country’s push to deepen economic ties with Europe.
Hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the “2026 Taiwan Expo in Europe” drew officials and industry representatives from the EU, Poland, and Ukraine. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Lviv City Council also attended, underscoring broader regional participation, according to the MOEA press release.
Economics Minister Kung Minh-hsin (龔明鑫) said in a prerecorded address that Taiwan aims to partner with Poland and Europe across the full value chain from R&D to manufacturing to build a more resilient, mutually beneficial local ecosystem. He said the expo is designed to match firms for concrete deals and expand from bilateral exchanges to multilateral cooperation with partners including the EU, Japan, and Ukraine.
Deputy Minister Cynthia Kiang (江文若) said Warsaw was chosen for Poland’s economic resilience and outlook, adding that collaboration in the AI era will combine Taiwan’s technology strengths with Poland’s local advantages. She described the event as a step forward in Taiwan-Poland ties and a key move in Taiwan’s broader European market strategy.
Polish Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology Michal Jaros said Poland was honored to host the expo as the second European venue and is ready to serve as Taiwan’s gateway to the European market. He said the platform would help bring industrial growth to Poland while strengthening links grounded in democratic resilience.
The MOEA said bilateral cooperation rests on a solid foundation, citing a 2025 memorandum on special economic zones and industrial parks. Industry group TEEMA is evaluating Miekinia near Wroclaw as a preferred site for a technology park to anchor R&D, production, services, and supply-chain collaboration in Europe, per the Economic Daily News.
More than 100 Taiwanese companies are exhibiting, with over 52% first-time participants, reflecting strong interest in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. The expo features eight themed zones, including semiconductors, smart manufacturing, ICT, and smart energy, alongside forums, seminars, and matchmaking events targeting digital and net-zero transitions and Ukraine reconstruction opportunities.
Poland became Taiwan’s second-largest export market for drones last year, and the expo for the first time includes a “Drones and Security” zone. The section showcases Taiwan’s integrated capabilities in unmanned systems and security technologies.
The MOEA said it will continue to deepen industrial links through the Taiwan Trade and Investment Center in Warsaw and work with industry on supply chains, investment, and market expansion. The goal is to help firms capture global opportunities while highlighting Taiwan’s innovation, industrial strength, and reliability as a partner.
