Semiconductor stocks led gains, with UMC opening limit-up at NT$160 and ASE hitting the daily limit at a record NT$674. More than 20 IC design stocks, including Novatek and Realtek, also rose to their daily ceilings.
PCB and upstream material shares also advanced on supply shortages and price increases, with firms including WUS, Tongtai, and Flexium hitting limit-up, according to CNA. Upstream material suppliers such as Nan Ya, Baotek, and Glotech also posted strong gains.
PineBridge Investments fund manager Kao Hao-chih (高豪志) told CNA that Taiwan’s role in the global tech supply chain continues to strengthen. He said AI-related companies account for more than 80% of the MSCI Taiwan Index, underscoring Taiwan’s key position in global AI infrastructure and supply-chain upgrades.
PineBridge added that the rally is supported by strong earnings growth rather than speculation. It said Taiwan has become a core AI investment hub in North Asia, with continued long-term inflows expected.
