TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn is expanding its renewable energy push in Vietnam, partnering with investment firm Brookfield to develop one gigawatt of renewable energy storage capacity.
The company hosted an energy forum in Hanoi on Monday, bringing together supply-chain partners to discuss the country’s energy market and direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) framework, per CNA. Foxconn said the initiative supports its long-term sustainability goals and net-zero target by 2050.
Foxconn also announced a partnership with Brookfield to develop renewable energy projects in Vietnam. The projects will include wind, solar, and energy storage facilities backed by long-term power purchase agreements.
The company explained that Vietnam’s renewable energy policies and DPPA framework are making it easier for businesses to secure green electricity locally. However, it said factors like regulatory changes and supply stability will affect implementation.
To support growing demand, Foxconn said it plans to establish a green-energy investment platform in Vietnam, per UDN. The platform will combine Foxconn’s renewable energy development experience with Brookfield’s asset management expertise to help lower barriers to green power.
