TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s government on Tuesday expressed condolences following the death of Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) conveyed the condolences of Taiwan’s government and people through the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, per CNA. Deputy Foreign Minister Baushuan Ger (葛葆萱) also visited the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei to express sympathy on behalf of the ministry.
The ministry said the princess dedicated her life to public service and held several senior positions, including prosecutor at Thailand’s Office of the Attorney General and ambassador to Austria. She was also known for promoting women’s rights and supporting disadvantaged groups.
The ministry said her contributions earned widespread respect in Thailand and abroad. It described her as a public servant whose work reflected both compassion and commitment to social progress.
Thailand’s government has declared a 15-day national mourning period following her death. Taiwanese nationals in Thailand have been advised to respect local royal mourning customs during the period.
