TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tesla Taiwan said Tuesday it has applied to introduce its Full Self-Driving Supervised system in Taiwan.
Tesla Taiwan said it submitted documents to the Vehicle Safety Certification Center and will work with regulators on the review process, per CNA.
According to Tesla, FSD has already launched or received regulatory approval in 12 countries and regions, including the US, Canada, Australia, and South Korea. The company is also conducting road testing in major Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka.
Tesla said the system has been trained using anonymized driving data collected from more than 8.5 million vehicles worldwide. The accumulated data allow newly delivered vehicles to benefit from a range of driving scenarios through software updates.
As part of its global rollout strategy, Tesla said it will discontinue the one-time purchase option for FSD in Taiwan after June 30. Existing owners who have already purchased the package will not be affected, while current owners and customers awaiting delivery can still add FSD before the deadline.
Tesla said FSD is not an autonomous driving system and remains classified as a Level 2 driver-assistance technology. It said drivers must remain attentive at all times, with legal responsibility for vehicle operation remaining with the driver.
