TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A proposed NT$10,000 (US$316) cash distribution plan for 2026 is under review in the legislature, while several local governments are running separate cash relief programs.
The 2025 nationwide NT$10,000 cash handout has already ended, with the April 30 claim deadline passed, per SET News. However, 23 KMT lawmakers, including Lo Ming-tsai (羅明才), have proposed an unconditional NT$10,000 payout to offset inflation pressures linked to geopolitical tensions.
The proposal remains under committee review. Meanwhile, eight township-level governments across Taiwan and its outlying islands are distributing or preparing cash or subsidy payments.
In Penghu County’s Huxi Township, residents registered as of March 29, 2026, will receive NT$5,000 through June 30, according to SET News. In nearby Xiyu Township, payments of NT$10,000 run from June 2 to July 31.
In Hualien County’s Fuli Township, residents registered by the end of 2025 are receiving NT$3,000 from May 19 to July 2. In Guangfu Township, disaster-affected residents are eligible for NT$10,000, with applications open from June 8 to Aug. 8 and payments made by bank transfer.
In Miaoli County’s Tongluo Township, eligible residents will receive NT$8,500, with cash distributions scheduled from June 26 to June 28. There will be a supplementary collection period from June 29 to July 3.
In Nantou County’s Renai Township, eligible residents and qualifying newborns will receive NT$2,000, SET News reported. Payments will be issued between February and June, including bank transfers and supplementary cash distributions.
In Taitung County’s Donghe Township, eligible residents will receive NT$3,000. Payments are underway from June 10 through July 31.
In Changhua County’s Huatan Township, residents are eligible for NT$6,000. However, distribution has been delayed, with new dates to be announced by local authorities.
The legislative proposal remains in early-stage review and has yet to clear committee scrutiny, with final approval requiring a third reading.
