TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Singapore’s World Cities Summit opened Monday, where Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) highlighted the city’s milk distribution policy and plans for an AI-driven technology corridor.
The event is being held June 14–16 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, bringing together government, industry, and academic representatives, per CNA. Several Taiwanese officials are attending, including Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang (謝國樑) and Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng (張善政).
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong opened the event and said cities play a key role in solving global challenges despite rising geopolitical fragmentation. He added that intercity cooperation is increasingly important in addressing shared urban issues.
Wong greeted attendees at the opening ceremony, including Chiang, and said that while countries may differ geopolitically, cities can still find common ground through practical cooperation. Taipei also received a Special Mention in the 2026 Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize.
In a forum session, Chiang spoke in English alongside Singapore’s Minister for National Development Desmond Lee and London Mayor Sadiq Khan. He highlighted Taipei’s “Fresh Milk Weekly” program as an example of urban systems management and efficiency.
Chiang said the policy demonstrates how smart systems can ensure zero shortages and minimal waste, while also strengthening urban resilience. He added that Taipei is building an AI technology corridor, supported by Nvidia, as a foundation for the next-generation innovation economy.
