TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Taiwan University has uncovered its first known case of a student using AI-enabled glasses to cheat during an entrance exam.
NTU Registrar Lee Hung-sen (李宏森) said that during the medical school’s second-stage exam, a candidate wore a hoodie and told proctors they were cold due to the air conditioning, per UDN. After the hoodie was inspected, the student was allowed to take the exam.
During the test, the student was seen repeatedly lowering their head, prompting suspicion. A proctor approached and saw the student was wearing thick black-framed glasses.
The glasses were unusually hot and were later confirmed to be AI-enabled. The student was given a score of zero.
In a separate case, two applicants to the electrical engineering department were found to have submitted falsified information during the document review stage, per Liberty Times.
Lee said the AI glasses case was reported to the Ministry of Education and the College Entrance Examination Center, which has developed a standard operating procedure in response.
