TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and South Korea’s tourism sectors are seeking ways to bring more South Korean visitors to southern Taiwan.
During the 39th Taiwan-Korea Tourism Exchange Conference on Thursday, Tourism Administration Deputy Director-General Huang Shih-fang (黃勢芳) said the Taiwan-South Korea tourism market showed strong growth momentum in 2025, with two-way visits reaching 2.85 million, per CNA. Of that figure, more than 1.01 million South Korean travelers visited Taiwan, Huang said.
Huang said the administration will continue boosting travel demand through incentive measures targeting repeat visitors, incentive travel, and stopover tourism. It will also increase travel exchanges and seek to raise per capita spending and length of stay, he added.
Korea Association of Travel Agents Chair Lee Jin-seok called on South Korean travel operators to take advantage of the increasing number of weekly flights between Taiwan and South Korea, as well as expanded flight opportunities at airports in central and southern Taiwan. Lee said these factors could encourage more South Korean tourists to explore regions beyond northern Taiwan.
Pingtung County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi (周春米) said South Korea has been an important international source market for Pingtung for many years. The county will continue to deepen ties with the South Korean tourism industry to attract more visitors, Chou said.
Pingtung County’s Department of Transportation and Tourism, citing the Tourism Administration, said South Korean visitors accounted for nearly 12% of all arrivals to Taiwan last year. Among them, about 116,000 visited Pingtung.
