TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Ennoconn has launched a takeover bid for Austrian technology company Kontron, offering NT$851 (US$27) per share in a deal that values the industrial Internet of Things provider at about NT$53.86 billion, Reuters reported Thursday.
The offer comes after Taiwan-listed Ennoconn, Kontron’s largest shareholder, crossed the 30% ownership threshold on Wednesday, triggering a mandatory takeover bid under Austrian regulations. The offer represents a premium of about 4.2% to Kontron’s previous closing share price.
Kontron said it will suspend its share buyback program until the takeover process is completed and will review Ennoconn’s proposal. The company’s market capitalization stood at about NT$52.4 billion as of Wednesday’s close.
The deal still requires regulatory approval and is expected to close by late August, per CNA.
Last month, Kontron’s board authorized Ennoconn to increase its stake beyond 30%, paving the way for the latest move. Ennoconn provides integrated cloud management, IoT, and design-manufacturing services, while Kontron specializes in industrial IoT solutions ranging from factory automation to advanced communications systems.
Headquartered in Austria, Kontron operates in 23 countries and employs about 7,000 people worldwide. The company reported a Q1 revenue of 363.7 million euros and has forecast adjusted EBITDA of NT$8.24 billion for 2026. It also announced plans to cut 500 jobs as part of its restructuring efforts.
