TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — David Bisbee, US deputy permanent representative to the World Trade Organization, arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday for a five-day visit at the invitation of Taiwan’s government.
During his trip, Bisbee will meet with officials from the Office of Trade Negotiations, Mainland Affairs Council, and International Trade Administration, according to the foreign ministry. He will also attend a luncheon hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍).
Bisbee will also visit Taiwanese technology companies to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s development in trade, technology, and democracy.
The ministry said the US is a key partner for Taiwan amid rapidly changing geopolitical and global trade dynamics. It said it hopes both countries will continue to deepen engagement and cooperation in bilateral and multilateral trade frameworks.
Bisbee has had a long career at the Office of the United States Trade Representative, including previously serving as trade representative in Geneva and deputy assistant trade representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the foreign ministry said.
