TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Kaohsiung City Government on Monday announced work and school closures in five districts.
In a statement, the city government said work and classes in Namaxia, Taoyuan, Jiaxian, Liugui, and Maolin districts will be canceled Tuesday to ensure the safety of residents in mountainous areas.
Citing information from the Central Weather Administration (CWA), the city government said a stationary front and southwesterly airflow would bring heavy rainfall to Kaohsiung’s mountainous areas. Rainfall is projected to reach 300 to 450 millimeters between 8 p.m. Monday and 8 p.m. Tuesday in those areas, according to the CWA.
