TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Nvidia Corporation CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) on Friday described as a great honor an invitation by President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) to visit a power station.
The president made the invitation during a TTV interview after Huang repeatedly emphasized the importance of a stable power supply for economic growth. Before leaving Taiwan for South Korea on Friday, the Nvidia founder repeated that if the country wanted to benefit from the AI revolution, it needed sufficient energy, per CNA.
Huang mentioned Taiwan’s first-quarter economic growth rate of 14.55% as an example. If the country wanted to maintain explosive growth and safeguard its wealth, it needed to have enough energy as industry and manufacturing needed energy to grow, he said.
Lai said that the next time Huang visited, he would invite the business leader to lunch with Taiwan Power Co. Chair Tseng Wen-sheng (曾文生), CNA reported. The president said he was convinced that if they toured a power station together, Huang would have faith in Taiwan’s power supply.
